European Solidarity Corps (ESC)
Come live and learn in Scandinavia, and make a difference in the world!
Ängsbacka is a course and festival centre in northern Europe, located in the beautiful deep forests of Värmland in Sweden, halfway between Stockholm and Oslo. We offer courses and festivals for creative and playful people who want to live a more conscious life, live from the heart and care for our planet.
Our vision is to become a leading meeting point for sustainable human development, and a source of inspiration for social, personal and global well being, bringing to the realization of whom and what we really are beyond thoughts and concepts.
Ängsbacka is run by a staff of approximately twenty people, and between 25 – 40 volunteers that live here all year around.
The ESC programme
The ESC experience offers an international and communal way of living, rich in opportunities for learning and personal development. A variety of activities such as dance, music, men’s and women’s circles, tantric and shamanic practices, massage, open stage and many other creative outlets are on offer on a daily basis.
Since 2017 Ängsbacka has hosted European Voluntary Service volunteers from all over Europe. In 2019, EVS became ESC. The program takes in 14 volunteers at a time and covers food, accommodation and travel costs. All ESC volunteers receive monthly pocket money.
You need to be 18-30 years old and a permanent resident/citizen from Spain, Germany, Slovenia, France, Estonia, Netherlands, Bulgaria or Sweden. As an ESC volunteer you are asked to contribute 7 hours a day, 5 days a week of volunteer service, in addition to attending all morning meetings and twice weekly sharing groups. You will be given pocket money of 150€ per month and your travel costs to and from Sweden will be covered.
The next 14 ESC volunteers will join our volunteer circle in late-March for 10 or 5 months.
ESC at Ängsbacka 2020
The main focus of the 2020 service will be our organic garden and environmental awareness at Ängsbacka. We intend to support the regular growing at the organic garden but also contribute to developing our garden, park and future ecovillage area into more biodiverse environment. We are aiming at reaching out to find partners to offer climate compensation scheme to our event participants and support the development of environmental policy of Ängsbacka. We would like to create some reach out events and connect to the local community. Thus, we are looking for people who are interested in organic growing, event management and reach-out activities. We are looking for people who are interested in self-development, community building and are service-minded.
