Summer Festival Volunteer

Genral info – summer volunteering

As a summer festival volunteer you can join for one or more festival camp. You will arrive a few days before the festival begins and work together in one of our teams like kitchen, media, dishwashing, information, cleaning, cafe or garden. During the festival the schedule is made so you can take part in most of the workshops.

What does it mean to be a festival volunteer at Ängsbacka?

Ängsbacka meets the summer in full bloom and opens up for more people to join the flow. Together we build up the summer site and gather positive energy for the manifestation of our festivals.

At Ängsbacka we breathe life into our core values through morning meetings, sharings, meditations and working together for a common purpose in a drug- and  alcohol free environment. Everyone who comes to Ängbacka for a shorter or a longer period of time will be introduced to our guidelines for living and working together and to the practice of sharing, another tool for taking care of ourselves and each other.

As a festival volunteer you come to participate in our festivals, and in exchange, you offer your time and energy to serve the festival in one of our working groups. As an exchange for your contribution, you receive our festival ticket at a discounted price; three beautiful, vegetarian meals a day and a bed in one of the dormitories on or off the festival campsite.

The Volunteer Experience

You will become part of one of our working groups. Each group has a coordinator who is your source for support and information during your stay.

Your coordinator establishes the necessary overview, and is also responsible for planning and scheduling the work of your group. You meet your coordinator in the welcome meeting on the day you arrive to Ängsbacka.

You have the possibility to pick your preferred working group when you fill in the application form. Please keep in mind that this does not mean with 100% certainty that you are actually going to work there. We hope you trust that we are doing our best to synchronize our practical needs with your energy, passion and experience. We ask you to remain flexible and be prepared to occasionally help out in other working groups to support the flow.

During a festival you are most welcome to join the workshop program when you are not working. On non-festival days there are activities for the volunteers to connect, re-connect and to establish the energy to boost the resonance of the festival. Festival or not, you are expected to join our volunteer meetings and sharings every day. Days off, or when you have free time during a workday, can of course be completely devoted to experiencing the festival program, chilling out with friends or resting alone.

Your working meditation takes five hours a day. You can work out with your coordinator if you prefer a morning or an afternoon shift, when such options are available. You are also entitled to have one day off per week. The departure day is also a working day – please bear in mind that you will be expected to help out before lunch, to support us with cleaning and putting things away after the festival.
